2015 Review

Happy New Year!!! Mason and I have made it to another year.  It seems like such an accomplishment every year.  2015 was a great year for Mason and I.

We started out 2015 with Ryan and Leah's wedding.  Mason made an adorable ring bearer and he had a blast dancing the night away.  Also in January Mason had his second surgery.  He took it like a champ.  There were some positives and negatives to having been through it before but the recovery this time went a lot smoother.

I had my 1 year anniversary working at TCB in February.  That means my 2 year is quickly approaching.  I am still enjoying it there.  My family tries to accuse me of converting over to a Knights fan, but I say I just like to support everyone!

In May a lot of things happened.  Mason turned the big THREE! I don't know how I can be the mother of a three year old already, but I am.  He has grown up so much and he won't slow down.
I applied for a mortgage loan and also put an offer in on a house and it was accepted!
Mason attended bible school for his first time in May.  Aunt Bree helped out in Mason's classroom so it was a lot of fun.
Mason gets to attend Sunday school now that he is three.  It is a great time for him to get to spend with other kids.

Finally on August 1st I closed on my house.  I had great help from my moving crew.  They say they are not moving me again for a very long time!  I also had some paint helpers.  I am loving being a homeowner.  It is a lot different from renting.
Mason loves that he now has a yard to play in. It is also close to the school so we can walk or ride his bike to the playground, which is one of his favorite things to do.
At the end of August I became a KEEP Collective designer and I am really enjoying it.  I love the jewelry and the extra cash on the side is nice too!

This school year we have been trying to go to all of Aunt Bree's sports games.  We love to cheer her on and the rest of the Bulldogs. Grandma still watches Mason for me while I am at work which is such a blessing.  As everyone knows, Mason LOVES Grandma's house.  Mason enjoys spending lunchtime playing with Grandpa and Uncle Ryan.  Great Grandma is my backup babysitter which I greatly appreciate as well. She always has treats in her pocket for Mason wherever she goes.  Mason is one spoiled boy!

For Halloween Mason was a robot, which Mason is obsessed with!  This year Mason really got into Halloween and trick or treating.  For Christmas this year he got to be in the church's Christmas Eve program.  We practiced his lines multiple times a day and every night before bed.  I was impressed with how fast he memorized his part.  It was a lot of fun to get to watch him.

2015 was a great year and I hope 2016 is even better.  I am excited to watch Mason grow up even more.  I am so lucky to have him in my life.  He has shaped me into the person I have become and I can't wait to see where we go from here.

  1. Kylie,
I have so enjoyed reading your blog about your life with Mason. I live so far away I haven't had the chance to share your life, but I am very proud of all your accomplishments! I hope I get the chance to meet my first great grandchild one of these days.

All my love and encouragement for the best new year,
    Grandma Sharp

Become a Partner in Hope

Today is February 4th, which also happens to be World Cancer Day.  In honor of World Cancer Day, the radio station I listen to everyday at work had many cancer survivors, and parents of cancer patients tell their stories.  Every time a parent or a child told their story, I was almost in tears.  In every story they all said "I never thought it would happen to me."  It is so true, no one ever thinks it is going to happen to them.  I couldn't even begin to imagine if I was told that my son has cancer.  I don't want to even think about it.  After hearing all of these stories I decided I wanted to do something to help.  So I went on to stjude.org and became a partner in hope.  I signed up to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital monthly.  It comes straight out of your credit card or bank account.  You can choose the dollar amount to donate per month.  Any amount helps so much.  It is so easy to do and I hope others wi...

My College "Secret"

Someone asked me the other day how I went through college and was able to make it financially while paying for a child so I figured that was a great blog topic.  The first thing I told her was I am just naturally a saver.  Anyone who knows me knows I am very cautious with my money.  If I buy something you can bet it was on sale or I used a coupon.  Today at my family Easter we were actually playing family feud and the question was "What do you call someone who is careful with money?"  and my brother answered "Kylie."  I guess you could say I chose the right profession. From the time I found out I was pregnant I strongly believed that no one should have to pay my way or my child's way through life just because I got pregnant at a young age.  It was my decisions that had got me to that point so I needed to be responsible for my actions. I know this isn't possible for everyone but I knew it was possible for me.   I have had a "real" job ever s...

That Thing Called "Co-Parenting"

Co-parenting.....oh the joys!   This has been a hot topic on my Facebook newsfeed lately.  I think anyone that has to co-parent doesn't enjoy it.  It can be very difficult and a huge struggle.  Some people are great at it and I envy those people.  Some people wish they could parent alone instead of having to co-parent and I have been right there with you.  Over the past almost five years my co-parenting style has definitely evolved.  Right now it is somewhat non-existent and that is just the way I like it. I have decided that Mason's father can choose how much involvement he wants in Mason's life but I am not going to go out of my way to force it on him.  The door is always open to call Mason whenever he wants and to come to Mason's activities.  Even though that door is open.....he rarely uses it.  I inform him of the things that I am legally required to notify him about and he will text me randomly every once in awhile to see how Maso...
