How To Survive Having Expensive Taste On A Small Budget

I became a mom at 17, bought a house at 20, and love the finer things in life.  All of these things have taught me how to save money but also find great deals on name brand items. I am going to share all of my secrets with you. -One of my oldest secrets is the app Poshmark.  You can buy and sell clothes, makeup, and accessories.  I have found some amazing deals over the past years on this app.  I not only buy clothes for myself but I also find great deals on clothes for my son Mason.  Which is awesome because kids grow out of clothes so fast! I do not just buy from the app but I also sell.  I have made over $400 from selling on Poshmark.  You can either use what you make to purchase other items off of Poshmark or you can have it deposited into your bank account or receive a check.  Use the code KYLIE2012 when you sign up to receive $5 to use on your first purchase!  You definitely will not regret downloading this app. -Shortly after I sta...

My College "Secret"

Someone asked me the other day how I went through college and was able to make it financially while paying for a child so I figured that was a great blog topic.  The first thing I told her was I am just naturally a saver.  Anyone who knows me knows I am very cautious with my money.  If I buy something you can bet it was on sale or I used a coupon.  Today at my family Easter we were actually playing family feud and the question was "What do you call someone who is careful with money?"  and my brother answered "Kylie."  I guess you could say I chose the right profession. From the time I found out I was pregnant I strongly believed that no one should have to pay my way or my child's way through life just because I got pregnant at a young age.  It was my decisions that had got me to that point so I needed to be responsible for my actions. I know this isn't possible for everyone but I knew it was possible for me.   I have had a "real" job ever s...

Thoughts On "Why the Strongest Girls Are Insecure"

I just came across this article today on Facebook and it reminded me so much of myself, so I had to share it.  At the end of the article I will share my thoughts on it. Why the Strongest Girls Are Insecure By Holly Riordan She has high standards. She won’t settle for boys that treat her disrespectfully. She won’t hold onto friendships that are toxic. She won’t let anyone that brings her down remain in her life.  But she isn’t a hypocrite. She holds herself to those same standards. She expects herself to reach the stars, so she hates herself on the days when she sits in bed with a bag of chips and skips the gym. On the days when she doesn’t get enough done. Of course, no matter how much she accomplishes in life, no matter how much love she gives, she keeps pushing herself further. She wants to do more. To be more. Because she knows she’s capable of more.  She’s insecure, because she believes in her potential and she knows that she hasn’t reached it...

That Thing Called "Co-Parenting"

Co-parenting.....oh the joys!   This has been a hot topic on my Facebook newsfeed lately.  I think anyone that has to co-parent doesn't enjoy it.  It can be very difficult and a huge struggle.  Some people are great at it and I envy those people.  Some people wish they could parent alone instead of having to co-parent and I have been right there with you.  Over the past almost five years my co-parenting style has definitely evolved.  Right now it is somewhat non-existent and that is just the way I like it. I have decided that Mason's father can choose how much involvement he wants in Mason's life but I am not going to go out of my way to force it on him.  The door is always open to call Mason whenever he wants and to come to Mason's activities.  Even though that door is open.....he rarely uses it.  I inform him of the things that I am legally required to notify him about and he will text me randomly every once in awhile to see how Maso...

It's Been Awhile

Hello readers.....I'm back! It has been awhile so I apologize for that. I have been super busy and I had kind of lost my "why" for the reasom I started this blog.  But thank you to an Instagram follower who asked me to keep blogging! (p.s. go follow me on my Instagram-kylieschwindt I love hearing from you guys)  The whole reason I started this blog was to prevent others from becoming a teen/young mom, to help others that are in my situation, and to give them someone to relate to. In a way this blog is sometimes difficult for me.  I like to be a super positive and happy person and lets face it,  there are a lot of things about being a single mom that aren't positive.  It can be a very difficult job but Mason is so worth it! I don't like to share the negative parts but that is kind of the point of this blog.  It is to show other girls that you don't want to be in my situation.  So that is why I kind of strayed away from blogging but I am back and will ...

Mirror Dresser DIY

Lots of people have been asking how I did my mirror dresser.  So I am going to share with you all how I did it and what I have learned from this project.  Here is the before picture of the dresser.  It is  not a very great but it is the only one I could find.  If I would have known that I was going to do a blog post on how I made it,  I would have taken step by step pictures. -The first step is sanding the dresser.  You want to get as much paint off as possible and create a surface that the mirror can stick to. -After sanding the dresser you are going to paint all of the edges where the mirror wont cover, a metallic silver.  I just used spray paint which you can find just about anywhere. -Once the paint is dry you will want to measure each side of the dresser and all of the drawers because you will need to get mirror cut to the exact size of the dresser.  Some lumber stores carry mirror that they will cut to size.  I will ...

Fall Decor 2016

Happy Columbus Day everyone!! It is a lovely bank holiday so that means I am at home cleaning, making preschool snacks, working on DIY's, and trying to fit in a blog post while Mason is taking a nap.  As you all know I love home decor and I love when my house looks good.  Today I figured I would share with you all how I have decorated my house for fall. The first picture I already shared on Instagram, but since it went along with my post I figured I would share it again. I painted the letters on the white pumpkins that I purchased from the local FFA Chapter and I added the ribbon to the stems.  I have these sitting right outside my front door. I purchased these mini pumpkins from Target and put them in vases on each side of my TV.  The vases I ordered off of Amazon. I also have candles sitting by both of them.  The silver one I purchased at Bath and Body works and the marble candle I purchased at Target on clearance. (I am obsessed with marble) ...
