Tips and Tricks to Saving Money

My whole life I have always been looking for ways to save money.  When I found out I was pregnant it gave me even more incentive to find ways to live a cheaper life. So I am going to spill all of my money saving secrets that work great for not only single moms but for anyone looking to save money.

1.  Shop Clearance- Buying clothes can get expensive especially when children are constantly growing.  I always try to buy Mason's clothes a year ahead of time.  So in the Fall I buy Mason's clothes for next summer because that is when they are going on clearance.  This is especially beneficial when buying winter coats.  They can be very expensive but if you buy them a year ahead of time it can save you a lot of money.  Also this way you will always be prepared and won't be shopping last minute.

2.  Coupons- Using coupons is a great way to save money.  Before you go shopping always check online for a coupon.  I think that is the easiest place to find them.  A great source to use is http://www.coupons.com/  If companies are giving out free money, why not take it?

3. Retail Me Not- Retail Me Not is one of the greatest apps that I have found for saving money.  If you don't have it you need to download it today!  It gives you special offers for in store purchases and online.  The moment I walk into a store I like to check the app to see what kind of deals I can get.  I also check the app before I purchase anything online.

4. Poshmark- Poshmark is another great app that I have fell in love with.  It has turned into my addiction.  It is an app where you can buy and sell clothing and accessories.  They have a lot of brand name clothes for a great price. It is not only a great place to buy, but it is also a great place to sell.  I have found some great deals on Poshmark and I have sold a little too.

5. Target Cartwheel-If you are a Target lover like me you will love this app.  This app is just for the Target store and they give additional savings with this app.  When ever I purchase anything at Target I make sure to scan the barcode with the app to check for additional savings.  Target also offer coupons so also be sure to check those out.

6. Hot Spot- Instead of having to pay an internet bill every month I just use my phone as a hot spot for my internet.  It takes away an extra expense and works just as well.  This has turned out to be a great money saver for me.

7.Netflix-Another way I cut out an extra bill a month is by only watching Netflix.  This way I don't have to pay for TV.  If you are lucky enough like me, I just use my parents Netflix account.  You can also watch a lot of TV shows by going online.  I have a Google Chrome cast so I can stream Netflix from my computer to my TV.

8. Hy-Vee Gas Card- When I lived in Norfolk my Hy-Vee Gas Card was one of the best things.  When you purchased certain items in the grocery store you can save money on your gas.  This can really add up and save a lot on gas.  Especially when you are a college kid traveling from home to school all of the time.

9. Credit Card- I have a credit card and use it only for gas.  With my credit card I get 3% cash back whenever I purchase gas.  I pay off my bill right away every month so I don't have any debt and just let my cash back bonus build up as a savings.

Thoughts On "Why the Strongest Girls Are Insecure"

I just came across this article today on Facebook and it reminded me so much of myself, so I had to share it.  At the end of the article I will share my thoughts on it. Why the Strongest Girls Are Insecure By Holly Riordan She has high standards. She won’t settle for boys that treat her disrespectfully. She won’t hold onto friendships that are toxic. She won’t let anyone that brings her down remain in her life.  But she isn’t a hypocrite. She holds herself to those same standards. She expects herself to reach the stars, so she hates herself on the days when she sits in bed with a bag of chips and skips the gym. On the days when she doesn’t get enough done. Of course, no matter how much she accomplishes in life, no matter how much love she gives, she keeps pushing herself further. She wants to do more. To be more. Because she knows she’s capable of more.  She’s insecure, because she believes in her potential and she knows that she hasn’t reached it...

My College "Secret"

Someone asked me the other day how I went through college and was able to make it financially while paying for a child so I figured that was a great blog topic.  The first thing I told her was I am just naturally a saver.  Anyone who knows me knows I am very cautious with my money.  If I buy something you can bet it was on sale or I used a coupon.  Today at my family Easter we were actually playing family feud and the question was "What do you call someone who is careful with money?"  and my brother answered "Kylie."  I guess you could say I chose the right profession. From the time I found out I was pregnant I strongly believed that no one should have to pay my way or my child's way through life just because I got pregnant at a young age.  It was my decisions that had got me to that point so I needed to be responsible for my actions. I know this isn't possible for everyone but I knew it was possible for me.   I have had a "real" job ever s...

That Thing Called "Co-Parenting"

Co-parenting.....oh the joys!   This has been a hot topic on my Facebook newsfeed lately.  I think anyone that has to co-parent doesn't enjoy it.  It can be very difficult and a huge struggle.  Some people are great at it and I envy those people.  Some people wish they could parent alone instead of having to co-parent and I have been right there with you.  Over the past almost five years my co-parenting style has definitely evolved.  Right now it is somewhat non-existent and that is just the way I like it. I have decided that Mason's father can choose how much involvement he wants in Mason's life but I am not going to go out of my way to force it on him.  The door is always open to call Mason whenever he wants and to come to Mason's activities.  Even though that door is open.....he rarely uses it.  I inform him of the things that I am legally required to notify him about and he will text me randomly every once in awhile to see how Maso...
