Happy Holidays!

It's that time of year again...Christmas card time!  This year I decided to write our Christmas letter on here.  It's been a crazy and exciting year for Mason and I.  At the beginning of the year Mason and I moved back to Ainsworth and moved back in with the parents/grandparents.  I started my last semester of college online.  In order to finish my degree online I had to take classes through three different colleges including Northeast Community College, Northern State University, and Central Community College.  I also took a class at the Northeast campus in O'neill.  Let's just say I have mastered online college and my time management skills.  In February I started working at The Tri-County Bank in Bassett.  I worked 3 days a week while doing school full time.   I am very happy to be back at TCB.  Mason started going back to Grandma's Daycare and of course he loves it!  He is very lucky to get to spend time with Grandpa and Grandma everyday.

In May a lot of exciting things happened.  Mason turned 2 and then a day later I graduated college! I can't believe I am a mother of a 2 year old! May was a month full of celebration.  The week after I graduated college with a degree in Rural Agribanking I started working at TCB full time.  Also in May, Mason and I moved into a 3 bedroom apartment in town which we both love.

In the summer Mason and I spent most of our days at the park and the pool.  Mason has always loved to swim and his skills in the water are pretty impressive.  We tried swimming lessons but Mason didn't think he needed any help in the swimming department so that only lasted a couple days.  Mason has a love for music just like his mommy.  He thinks he needs to control the radio whenever we are in the car.  He currently has an obsession with the Frozen movie and the song "Let It Go."  We make a pretty good duet when it comes to all of the Frozen songs.  This year Mason has really learned to talk.  He is learning new words everyday.  He has learned how to count and we are working on our ABC's.

Mason is Aunt Bree's biggest fan.  We try to make it to all of her volleyball and basketball games.  90% of the time during the games Mason is trying to either get Aunt Bree's attention or run on to the court to see her.  Mason loves it when Uncle Ryan takes him to feed the cows or when he lets him ride the horses.  Mason loves the outdoors and ALL animals!  Mason got two pet fish which are in a fish tank in his room.  When we first got the fish Mason tried to share his milk with them so it is a miracle they are still alive.  He loves to tell them goodnight before he goes to bed.

Mason is a very outgoing little boy.  He loves to say hi to everyone and he will walk up to any kid at the park and grab their hand to go play.  I am loving watching him grow everyday.  It is amazing how much he changes in such a short amount of time.  We have been very blessed this year and we can't wait to see what next year holds for us!

Thoughts On "Why the Strongest Girls Are Insecure"

I just came across this article today on Facebook and it reminded me so much of myself, so I had to share it.  At the end of the article I will share my thoughts on it. Why the Strongest Girls Are Insecure By Holly Riordan She has high standards. She won’t settle for boys that treat her disrespectfully. She won’t hold onto friendships that are toxic. She won’t let anyone that brings her down remain in her life.  But she isn’t a hypocrite. She holds herself to those same standards. She expects herself to reach the stars, so she hates herself on the days when she sits in bed with a bag of chips and skips the gym. On the days when she doesn’t get enough done. Of course, no matter how much she accomplishes in life, no matter how much love she gives, she keeps pushing herself further. She wants to do more. To be more. Because she knows she’s capable of more.  She’s insecure, because she believes in her potential and she knows that she hasn’t reached it...

My College "Secret"

Someone asked me the other day how I went through college and was able to make it financially while paying for a child so I figured that was a great blog topic.  The first thing I told her was I am just naturally a saver.  Anyone who knows me knows I am very cautious with my money.  If I buy something you can bet it was on sale or I used a coupon.  Today at my family Easter we were actually playing family feud and the question was "What do you call someone who is careful with money?"  and my brother answered "Kylie."  I guess you could say I chose the right profession. From the time I found out I was pregnant I strongly believed that no one should have to pay my way or my child's way through life just because I got pregnant at a young age.  It was my decisions that had got me to that point so I needed to be responsible for my actions. I know this isn't possible for everyone but I knew it was possible for me.   I have had a "real" job ever s...

That Thing Called "Co-Parenting"

Co-parenting.....oh the joys!   This has been a hot topic on my Facebook newsfeed lately.  I think anyone that has to co-parent doesn't enjoy it.  It can be very difficult and a huge struggle.  Some people are great at it and I envy those people.  Some people wish they could parent alone instead of having to co-parent and I have been right there with you.  Over the past almost five years my co-parenting style has definitely evolved.  Right now it is somewhat non-existent and that is just the way I like it. I have decided that Mason's father can choose how much involvement he wants in Mason's life but I am not going to go out of my way to force it on him.  The door is always open to call Mason whenever he wants and to come to Mason's activities.  Even though that door is open.....he rarely uses it.  I inform him of the things that I am legally required to notify him about and he will text me randomly every once in awhile to see how Maso...
