Mirror Dresser DIY

Lots of people have been asking how I did my mirror dresser.  So I am going to share with you all how I did it and what I have learned from this project.  Here is the before picture of the dresser.  It is  not a very great but it is the only one I could find.  If I would have known that I was going to do a blog post on how I made it,  I would have taken step by step pictures. -The first step is sanding the dresser.  You want to get as much paint off as possible and create a surface that the mirror can stick to. -After sanding the dresser you are going to paint all of the edges where the mirror wont cover, a metallic silver.  I just used spray paint which you can find just about anywhere. -Once the paint is dry you will want to measure each side of the dresser and all of the drawers because you will need to get mirror cut to the exact size of the dresser.  Some lumber stores carry mirror that they will cut to size.  I will ...

Fall Decor 2016

Happy Columbus Day everyone!! It is a lovely bank holiday so that means I am at home cleaning, making preschool snacks, working on DIY's, and trying to fit in a blog post while Mason is taking a nap.  As you all know I love home decor and I love when my house looks good.  Today I figured I would share with you all how I have decorated my house for fall. The first picture I already shared on Instagram, but since it went along with my post I figured I would share it again. I painted the letters on the white pumpkins that I purchased from the local FFA Chapter and I added the ribbon to the stems.  I have these sitting right outside my front door. I purchased these mini pumpkins from Target and put them in vases on each side of my TV.  The vases I ordered off of Amazon. I also have candles sitting by both of them.  The silver one I purchased at Bath and Body works and the marble candle I purchased at Target on clearance. (I am obsessed with marble) ...

Kylie's Guide to Spray Tanning

Hey everyone, I hope you all are having a fantastic day.  I get asked almost daily about how to prep for a spray tan and how to maintain it.  I figured I would post it on here so everyone can have something to refer to.  The three things that I suggest doing before a spray tan is shower, shave, and exfoliate. I also suggest doing this as close to the time of the spray tan as possible.  If you don't prep your skin properly the spray tan will not last as long.  I also get asked if there is any specific product I suggest exfoliating with.  As of right now the answer is no.  I have not yet found an exfoliating product that is a game changer.  If I find one I will let you all know.  There are lots of exfoliating scrubs specifically for spray tans out there if you are interested in purchasing and trying one. I have recently tried out the Norvell prep spray.  The reviews on this product were great so I decided to try it out.  It is basic...

Why the Fitbit Life is Not For Me

Hi everyone, my name is Kylie and I am an ex-fitbit owner.  I decided to share my thoughts and opinions about why I chose to return my Fitbit after 6 days.  First off I will share with you why I decided to purchase a Fitbit in the first place. For my boyfriend's birthday I had bought him a Fitbit Alta.  As it turned out he really liked his.  He was always telling me how many steps he had gotten in a day and about how he slept.  I decided that I needed to get myself one so we could challenge each other.   The first few days with the Fitbit went fine. I was going to the gym every morning because Mason was at his dads.  Whenever Mason is gone I go to the gym in the morning before I go to work. Since I was going to the gym I was getting a lot of steps during the day.  Now that Mason is back it is not going so well for me. 1. My boyfriend Chad works at a clinic as an x-ray tech so he is always on his feet walking around.  I work at a bank so...

Landscaping and Outdoor Improvements

One of the first things I did outside of my house was get rid of all of the weeds and put down rock.  It was something that was much needed and looks so much better.  I wanted to get plants planted in the rock this summer but I am waiting to get new gutters put in so it will have to wait for next spring.  Next I had a large tree removed in my backyard and planted new grass.  After that was done I put a fence up with the help of my boyfriend and family.  I purchased all of the supplies at Menards and received an 11% off rebate so I got it all for a very good price.  I am loving the privacy from my new fence and so is Mason. You all know how much I love my decor so I obviously had to add some outside.  Here are two signs I have.  The home sign I purchased but it would be very easy to make and the Welcome sign I made.  I took 3 leftover pickets from my boyfriends privacy fence and hinged them together.  I then purchased...

Upgrading On A Budget

I love home decor and home improvement so I wanted to start sharing how I do all of that while on a budget.  I just recently did some upgrading in my kitchen.  Someone was giving away a kitchen stove because the glass top was cracked.  I decided it was a great opportunity for an upgrade.  I took it and purchased a new glass top.  By selling my old stove to help compensate for the new glass top it really made it pretty inexpensive to get a brand new stove.  I think it makes a big difference in my kitchen.  Here are the before and after pictures.

The Spray Tan Room

I have finally found a purpose for the 4th bedroom in my house.  It has been sitting empty ever since I moved in.  At first it was going to be my workout room but I have found a new purpose for it.  It has turned into my spray tan room.  It recently got a little bit of a facelift.  I of course forgot to take before pictures so you will only get to see the after.  If you haven't noticed I love interior decorating.  I would rather buy decorations for my house than buy clothes for myself.  I am always doing some type of home improvement project or sometimes even more than one. I was going to wait to share what the room looks like once I am completely done with it but to be honest it will never be done.  I will always be adding to it.  There are a few things that are still a must to get in my book but here is what it is looking like right now!

My AMAZING Hair Secret

If you are like me you can never find time to schedule a haircut.  I have always had bad split ends ever since I can remember.  I usually need a haircut about every 6 weeks because of my terrible ends.  I now haven't gotten a haircut since December!  It is all because I finally decided to try coconut oil.  I purchased the coconut oil one night because my ends were getting bad, but I of course couldn't find time to get a haircut. I discovered that coconut oil does wonders!  I melt the oil but running hot water over the jar. I then apply it all over my hair and let it set for about an hour.  After the coconut oil sets in I wash it out in the shower.  It is that simple.  I only do it when my ends start to get bad.  It honestly keeps my ends looking better longer than a haircut does. I never would have imagined that I could go this long without a haircut! Thank goodness for coconut oil! (Pictured below is my hair after I applied the cocon...

The Time When I Stood Up Alone

When I was at college at NECC I loved going to class.  I loved going because the whole year previously I had done college online.  You don't know how great it is to listen to a teacher and be around other students until you have taken online classes.  One day about halfway through the semester I was in my business management class.  It was one of my biggest classes with about 30 students.  That day we were learning about diversity.  My teacher did a little activity where she read something off and if it pertained to you, you stood up to show there was diversity everywhere.  She started off by naming an eye color, then religion, and race, she went on and on and then she got to...children.  I took a deep breath and stood up.  All eyes were on me because I was the only one standing. There were literally gasps in the classroom (I am not even kidding).  I am sure that my classmates thought that they knew me but they had just found out that th...

The Reason

Today I wanted to write about the whole purpose of starting my blog. I think I have said it before but it is to help prevent teen pregnancy.  I think living in a small community everyone knows of you because you had a kid at seventeen. Even all of the surrounding towns know of me especially with social media these days.  I got the feeling that I was making being a teen mom look too easy and thats not what I want.  I post all of these cute pictures of my child and I share all of my accomplishes with social media but I wasn't sharing the negatives that come with it all too.  That is why I started this to share the cold hard truth of the struggles and frustrations to teach kids that you do not want to be in my situation.  I try to put as much positivity into it as possible but I feel I need to show you the negative side so kids know it is not all fun and games.   I decided to do it on a blog so it would get out to more than just who I have on social media. ...

"They're Real!"

I have been blessed with naturally long eyelashes.  I am always getting compliments on how long my eye lashes are and a lot of people actually ask me if they are real, which makes me laugh.  Another question I get asked a lot is what kind of mascara I use (I could be a walking mascara salesman).  I have honestly never really stuck with a specific mascara.  I always just bought whatever because my eyelashes are already long.  However, I just recently found a mascara that is a game changer.  The mascara is called "They're Real!" by benefit.  It only takes a super light coat for your eyelashes to look amazing! I usually apply two coats of mascara, but with this one it only takes one.  I love the name and it goes great since I am always telling people that my eyelashes are real.  Here is the link to order!  https://www.benefitcosmetics.com/us/en/product/theyre-real-lengthening-mascara   They do offer a travel size that is half the price...

I am the Lucky One

Yesterday I was looking on my Timehop and a blog popped up that I shared a year ago (I didn't write it).  It was titled "Why I get to hate you." https://noonetellsthetruth.wordpress.com/2015/02/14/why-i-get-to-hate-you/  All of the points in the article were spot on.  But the article also made me realize that I am the lucky one. 1) I got to witness all of the firsts. From rolling over to walking, riding a bike, talking, the list goes on and on.  Those firsts brought so much joy to me.  Mason was actually walking for a month before you ever knew. The only reason you found out was because I finally told you.  As a parent you are so proud of your child, I would never want to miss that! 2) When Mason is sad, hurt, or sick who does he call for?  Not you.  He wants me, or even sometimes he wants his Grandma or Aunt Bree. We have been his caretakers his whole life.  We give him comfort, you don't fit in in that category. 3) I am the one who is...

I Found the Secret to Clear Skin

Unfortunately I was not blessed with clear skin.  I am not afraid to admit that I have acne.  I am not one of those girls that can walk around without any foundation and look great.  Foundation is definitely my best friend. Recently I discovered a product that is clearing up my so fast!  I have used many different spot treatments for my acne and none of them have seemed to work for me.  I heard something about aloe vera being used for acne so I decided to try it.  IT ACTUALLY WORKS!! The great thing about it is that it's so cheap!  I purchased mine at dollar general and enough comes in a bottle to last a lifetime.  Every night I just put it on my blemishes before bed and in the morning my skin is even clearer than the day before!  I never thought I would see my skin so clear.  I wish I had taken a before and after picture for you all.  I started noticing  results with aloe vera immediately.  If you have acne I would de...

The day I found my INDEPENDENCE

Everyone that knows me, knows that I like to be very independent.  I don't want to have to rely on anyone for anything.  Some people are born that way and some people have just taught themselves to become that way.  For me, I remember the specific day that my mindset changed for the rest of my life. It was the day that I decided to go to college.  It was in February of 2012, I was a senior in high school, and I was pregnant.  I had somewhat put college out of my future.  I felt that I needed to just start working full time after high school to be able to provide for Mason.  One day I literally just flipped a switch.  I woke up that morning and I decided that I needed to go to college, because I wasn't going to be able to rely on Mason's father to provide for us.  I had to make a future for Mason and I, and I wanted that future to be a positive one. At the time Mason's father and I were together but I knew it just wasn't going to workout. ...

St. Jude's Partner in Hope

It has been a year since I became a partner in hope, and I think it is one of the best decisions I have ever made.  These days everyone knows someone that is affected by cancer.  This year especially I felt like cancer was attacking everyone around me.  Everyone knows how cancer can not only be a problem medically but also financially. The thing that I LOVE about St. Jude's is that parents don't have to pay for a dime while their child is there.  St. Jude's even pays for travel expenses to get to St. Jude's and back home.  This lets the parents be able to focus more on taking care of their child and less on how in the world are they going to pay for all of the medical bills.  This was really the selling point for me on St. Jude's.  That is why partners in hope are so important because they are the ones who are paying for the chemo and the doctor bills, not the parents. When I was pregnant with Mason at 17 years old I was at a place where I didn't k...

2015 Review

Happy New Year!!! Mason and I have made it to another year.  It seems like such an accomplishment every year.  2015 was a great year for Mason and I. We started out 2015 with Ryan and Leah's wedding.  Mason made an adorable ring bearer and he had a blast dancing the night away.  Also in January Mason had his second surgery.  He took it like a champ.  There were some positives and negatives to having been through it before but the recovery this time went a lot smoother. I had my 1 year anniversary working at TCB in February.  That means my 2 year is quickly approaching.  I am still enjoying it there.  My family tries to accuse me of converting over to a Knights fan, but I say I just like to support everyone! In May a lot of things happened.  Mason turned the big THREE! I don't know how I can be the mother of a three year old already, but I am.  He has grown up so much and he won't slow down. I applied for a mortgage loan and a...
